Saplinq aims to develop LGBT+ youth communities and young LGBT+ leaders in Slovakia. They also educate the wider public and create community spaces for LGBT+ people.
In Slovakia, LGBT+ people face low social acceptance and discrimination. Moreover, the representation of LGBT+ people is low in society and almost non-existent on a political level. Therefore, community and movement building is seen as essential for changing this.
With PlanetRomeo Foundation funding, Saplinq will train 10 community leaders and provide them with skills and competencies in community-focused activism. Saplinq hopes this network of 10 LGBT+ community activists will lay a foundation for further engagement in the LGBT+ movement.
