Kok.team is an LGBT+ media platform established by activists, reaching out to 1.5 million LGBT+ individuals living in Kazakhstan.
Although homosexuality is decriminalized in Kazakhstan, homophobia is still common. LGBT+ activists are mostly located in the country’s two largest cities Astana and Almaty, and therefore it’s difficult to build a united LGBT+ community throughout the country.
With PlanetRomeo Foundation funding, Kok.team will engage and inspire their website’s visitors through so-called LGBTalks. These LGBTalks include online interviews, presentations, and discussions with LGBT+ activists.
In these live sessions, community members interact with activists and thus offer them the opportunity to build a stronger, more unified movement with a joint agenda.
