IM Indonesia in Jakarta, Indonesia, works for the fulfillment of sexual and reproductive health rights for youth. They also have a focus on young key populations that face great challenges, like young LGBT people.
In Indonesia, many young LGBTs experience eviction from their homes because of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. On the other hand, there are also parents who have accepted their LGBTI child. IM Indonesia believes that bringing together these groups can bring empowerment to both.
With the Support System project, IM Indonesia will provide shelter to young LGBTs expelled by families. In the shelter facility, they will receive capacity building support on issues that relevant to them, such as mental health, suicide prevention and life skills support. Also, meetings will take place for parents who have accepted their LGBT son/daughter/others, and parents who support LGBT people.
