ATRANSCE – Associação Transmasculina do Ceará is an initiative by trans* men and gender non-binary activists in the Ceará state in Brazil.
In Brazil, the transgender population faces one murder every 3 days on average. This resulted in a sad total of 127 murders in 2017. According to ATRANSCE, the number of homeless transgender people in Fortaleza is increasing, also resulting in more violence experienced by them.
ATRANSCE already has a running shelter facility, without receiving any form of governmental or institutional support. Our funding will enable ATRANSCE to improve the shelter structure, so they can accommodate more trans* people. Additionally, electronic devices and other tools will be purchased to facilitate and improve their activist work.
