Pink Myanmar opened a shelter in Myanmar, which was not an easy task.
Finding an apartment to function as a shelter facility for LGBTI people is challenging. Many landlords are hesitant to rent out an apartment for this purpose. Luckily, Pink Myanmar eventually found an apartment, allowing them to host a total of 37 community members so far.
Additionally, 10 of these community members received assistance in finding permanent housing. Besides activities taking place inside the shelter, Pink Myanmar also took shelter residents to outside events, for example, a Yangon pride party. This gave them the opportunity to socialize with other community members.
